There’s no doubt that it’s one of the favorite destinations to enjoy a good vacation because it has both beaches and mountains. That’s why, at Cangas Aventura, we want to suggest four perfect routes to do with children in Asturias.
El Camín Encantau
It is probably one of the most well-known routes to do with the little ones in the family, as along the way they will be fully immersed in the history of Asturian mythology and will end up seeing this route as if it were truly an enchanted path.
This route is located in the Valle de Ardisana (Llanes council) and combines forest, river, and road. Its route is completely circular, and along it, you can find different wooden figures related to mythology.
The total distance is approximately 9/10 km, although the estimated hours to complete the route are difficult to calculate, as it depends a bit on how much time one takes to observe the different figures. And although it may seem somewhat long for children, the truth is that it has no major difficulty except for a somewhat steep slope at the beginning.
The parking lot to leave the car is completely free, and the route starts right as you exit it.
Lakes of Covadonga
An essential visit in Asturias is the Lakes of Covadonga, but you’ll also have the opportunity to do a circular route that will provide you with a beautiful perspective of the surroundings of the lakes.
It’s a simple route of barely 6 km without much difficulty that will allow you to spend a great day with the children. However, we recommend doing it on clear days and avoiding foggy days.

Bear Trail
If the little ones like biking, another very good option is to try doing the Bear Trail with them. It can also be done on foot, but if you have the opportunity, at Cangas Aventura we encourage you to opt for the bike.
The complete route covers 36 km, but it can be done entirely, in one direction, or in sections. The most common is to do it by bicycle and in one direction, starting in Entrago so that the journey is downhill. As the rental includes a shuttle service, once you finish, you’ll be taken back to the start of the Bear Trail.
As an interesting fact, you’ll like to know that the Bear Trail runs along an old mining railway that was decided to be converted into a green area and where you’ll find bars, restaurants, and different picnic areas where you can stop to rest a bit.
Alba Route
The Redes Natural Park, declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 2001, has countless routes, but one of the most well-known is the Alba Route. It’s a simple route with hardly any elevation gain. Moreover, more than half of the path has been paved due to the large influx of people, making it very comfortable to go with children of all ages.
The route starts in Soto de Agues, and you’ll find free parking right at the entrance of the village.
