The maximum distance or kilometers to cover is 16, however, we offer 3 different pick-up points during the Sella River Descent route so you can customize it to your liking. You set the pace!
At Cangas Aventura, we want you to be as comfortable as possible, which is why we’ve decided not to have a single finish line. And to make it even easier for you, we have our own facilities with restrooms and changing rooms halfway through the route. What are the best dates to descend the Sella River?
The Sella Descent is one of the most fun and rewarding adventure activities you can practice in Asturias. Plus, you don’t need any special physical conditions! As for when you can descend the Sella River, the activity can be done between the months of March and November.
Rental of 1, 2 or 3-seater canoes for the Sella Descent
At Cangas Aventura, we offer you the possibility to rent 1, 2 and 3-seater canoes for the Sella Descent. Different capacities so that you don’t feel constrained, so that you can decide whether to do it alone, come as a couple, or with more people.
Our recommendation for the use of the 3-seater canoe is that it be occupied by two adults and a child, since if 3 adults do it, the weight and coordination would affect the progress of the journey.
What do you need to descend the Sella River?
You should come with appropriate sportswear for water exercise, submersible footwear, sunscreen, change of clothes, and a towel. We have changing rooms and showers available!
Additionally, we recommend bringing some food and drink to replenish energy during the journey. You’ll find beautiful spots to eat on the riverbanks! And don’t worry, you can store everything in the waterproof container we provide.

Sella Descent with Children
At Cangas Aventura, it’s possible to rent double and triple canoes to do the Sella Descent as a family. The recommended minimum age is 5 years old and the minimum height for this activity is 1.10 meters. We’re sure the whole family will enjoy the experience!
For us, the enjoyment of the little ones is our driving force, but above all, ensuring that the activity is safe for all of them. Therefore, before getting into the boats, both adults and children will watch an explanatory video about the activity. However, if you have any doubts, our instructors will always be there to help you!
Descent of the Sella with Dogs
At Cangas Aventura, we make it easy for you to do the Sella River Descent with dogs! However, there are a series of rules and recommendations you should know before bringing your furry friend with you.
You don’t need to tell us in advance if you’re coming with your dog, as there’s no additional cost for them to accompany you. However, you should consider that the space in the canoe is limited and, if your 4-legged friend weighs more than 20 kg, the option of descending the Sella River with them is less advisable because the canoe’s occupancy would be too high to make the descent safely.
The Descent of the Sella with dog must be done in K2, since the K1 does not admit it due to the space.

We offer departures from 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM continuously. The duration of the Sella River Descent is between 2 and 4 hours. During the route, you can make as many stops and rests as you want.
Once you arrive at the chosen pick-up point, our instructors and vehicles will be waiting to take you back to our facilities.
The activity’s end time limit is 6:00 PM.

If you can’t complete the Sella River Descent route don’t worry, we have 3 pick-up points, so you can take shorter trips, whether due to fatigue, lack of time, or because you’re with young children. We will transfer you back to our facilities, where you can change clothes in our changing rooms.
